Gang Diversion

The Fatherhood Project works closely with young people involved in gangs, helping them leave behind that life and move into steady employment and personal growth. Through tailored support and training, we prepare them for the workforce and provide a structured daily routine that keeps them engaged and focused. By physically removing them from high-risk environments, we dramatically reduce the chances of reoffending or falling back into street life. Our approach is hands-on and rooted in real understanding—not theory.

Thanks to the lived experience and deep insight of our director, who truly understands what young people in UK gangs go through, our interventions are direct, relatable, and effective. To date, we've helped over 60–75 young people secure steady employment while continuing their college education. We offer jobs that pay above minimum wage, giving them a genuine alternative to crime. We also send out regular content on self-improvement and motivation—always reinforcing the message: you have to believe in yourself, because we believe in you.

Beyond employment, we focus heavily on prevention and mindset. We provide free boxing and football sessions between 5pm and 8pm—times when gang-related crime is most likely—to give young people a positive outlet and sense of community. We also run motivational classes and "Law and Street Awareness" sessions. These include talks from men who have served up to 18 years in prison, offering raw and honest insight into the consequences of crime. Our Street Awareness program trains participants to avoid dangerous situations involving knives, drugs, or exploitation, and teaches responsibility under peer pressure or while under the influence.

We're proud to be working closely with local institutions to modernise old approaches and provide real solutions to those most at risk. Our aim is not just to reduce crime, but to create a new path forward for young people—one built on opportunity, belief, and support. Through consistent, targeted work, we’re striving to reduce stabbings, robberies, and other serious crimes—especially during late hours—by tackling the problem at its root: lack of purpose, support, and safe options.
